South Australia’s bolivar raceway near adelaide was the host of round number two of the CIK Stars of karting championship.
The weekend started very wet, the whole friday practise it came down like a waterfall at some times. Never the less Joey Enjoyed it. “We have done a perfect job on the friday with putting the Shamick CRG on top every single session. Eventhe last session we had a gap of 6 tenths. It was also the first time we used the hi-tech MEX Sprockets and chains. Every thing went well and it gave me a good feeling!” For sure Joey was happy because this was the first race the BIG boss ‘Shane Wharton’ was there to watch him in action.
The saturday was a nice day, No rain and a lot of sun.The Qualifying session was half wet half dry, Wich was good for Joey he had a half and half set-up anyway so he came second wich was enough for the shoot out wich he managed to put the shamick CRG on pole position for all the heats.
Wich he also won by a margine. Heat one P1 heat two P1 heat 3 P1. everything felth good so we decided to keep the racing tyres for sunday’s final only ( Because KZ has 8 tyres for the meeting you can put a new set when ever you want )
The prefinal was going to be hard because Kel Treseder and Dave Sera starting p3 and P2 behind me had new tyres. in the first corner once again Joey got hit from the back and dropped back to 3rd. The rest of the race He batteled with Treseder for P2 but finished 3rd.
FINAL: I must say it was the talk of the day. I got bogged down at the start to avoid contact with Dave sera some I got sandwiched, As we went into the corner Then hit from behind as everyone else going into turn one. I dropped to P7 comming out of Turn one. so I had to do a big move and give back what the driverd had given me over the past year and so on. The feeling of rubbing is racing like in a world championship race putting everything on the line to get out of the mess I created room by using my bumper, Without taking anyone out. Comming out of the corner a driver stayed on the outside exactly at my rear wheel. so i moved over to the raceline and he didnt slow down and clipped my wheel. after that 3 corners i was back in P3 and kept going and winning the race by 4 seconds till number 2 and 10.4 seconds to number 3. After the race i got a 10second penalty wich put me second. Still good for the championship and leading by a mile. Lets go to Puckapanyal round 3 of the season and as we say the Sh*t kicks off!
